The ankle joints can be replaced with both joint surfaces due to deformations of their surfaces related to any reason. Previously, freezing (arthrodesis) was applied to severely deformed joints. After this procedure, the movements of the ankle joint would be prevented. However, technological developments in the last 20 years have made great strides in ankle prostheses. Better results are being achieved with ankle prostheses today.
